Can you help us by providing careers advice, guidance or work experience placements to one of our pupils or a young OJ?
What is the St John’s Careers Network?
The St John’s Careers Network is a new initiative and a way of obtaining information, help and guidance from OJs and other members of the School community. It will help recent leavers and young OJs with their career choices as well as provide networking opportunities for those in established careers and advice for those looking to change careers. The St John’s Careers Network is open to all members of the St John’s community, whether a current pupil, recent leaver, OJ or Friend.
How does it work?
Sixth Form
- Sixth formers at St John’s will be given the opportunity to be put in contact with members of the St John’s Careers Network to help them make choices regarding universities, courses to study and careers to follow.
- As pupils leave St John’s they will be asked to join the St John’s Careers Network and give help to lower sixth pupils making university and course choices.
University
- Whilst at University, OJs will have the opportunity to contact members of the St John’s Careers Network for advice in their chosen or intended career path. Help received could range from advice, face to face meetings, work shadowing or experience.
- Just before leaving University we will contact OJs requesting details of their future plans and intended field of work.
At Work
- The St John’s Careers Network is always open and available to any member of the St John’s Community looking for careers information, networking or advice.
- We will periodically invite members of the St John’s Community who have not done so to join the St John’s Careers Network and will request updated details of career, work place and position from those that have.
To get involved, either by giving or receiving Careers help and advice, please see Careers Network Leaflet or contact the Development Office.
